Any band that Aphex Twin regards as influential on his music is a band to pay careful attention to. 808 State is one such band. Like Aphex, 808 State switches styles from album to album, at times touching on acid house, other times recording with hardcore hip hop artists. Although some of the original band members have since left, 808 State remains active in the Manchester scene and beyond, at times under pseudonyms and in side projects.
