Phone Can Now Take Pictures By Itself
13 Dec 2007
Even if your cellphone has GPS, push email, and camera functions all built inside it, you still have to be there. While those are pretty impressive, the handset still can't take a photo without your manual help. This project hacks a standard handset, using a Picaxe microcontroller which allows your handset to capture images without you being there - all it takes is a text message and you're good to go.
The idea is to replace your fingers with the switches and your brain with a microcontroller. Depending on how compound your phone is, i.e. number of different keys to press in order to send a picture chooses your microcontroller accordingly. Of course, this would work great only if your camera phone does not come with any sort of sliding lens cover, else your effort will amount to naught. The only problem is this remote camera kinda’ looks like a bomb.
